An ordinance to ban the sale of recreational marijuana in Bellbrook was introduced. The City had previously declared a moratorium, but this would prohibit adult use cannabis operators. Apparently, the state has decided that cities cannot gain tax revenue from this business. There will be a public hearing on this issue at an upcoming Council meeting when it is on the agenda for approval. If you have an opinion, you need to show up and speak! Keep in mind that 54% of Bellbrook voters said YES to recreational marijuana, and 46% said NO. An ordinance to revise the livestock zoning code was introduced. There will be a public hearing and vote on this later, when you can give your opinion. This resolution does NOT specify which animals are included; that will be addressed separately.
The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School Board has asked that Bellbrook and its CIC pause any proceedings regarding the sale/transfer of the old Sugarcreek Elementary. This will allow the ESC time to decide if they will negotiate directly with the school. The school will then finalize the direction of the project. Look for more actions in August.
Look for a future presentation by Cathi Spaugy, our new Community Development Administrator, on the topic of short-term rentals (like Air B&B) in Bellbrook. Should we create regulations? Institute a lodging tax, like other nearby cities? How many rental units are in the city?
As always, you can view the meeting for yourself. This one’s short, 40 minutes. Grab a snack! : ) https://bellbrookoh.new.swagit.com/videos/349553
